ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION

PATROL DIVISION

The Patrol division consist of four shifts. Lieutenants supervise each of the four shifts, with each having a Sergeant or Corporal and officers. The Patrol division currently has 16 police officer positions filled. The Patrol division is responsible for patrolling the city for crime prevention, responding to emergency calls, traffic enforcement, and accident investigation.

DETECTIVE DIVISION

The Criminal Investigations division consist of two full time investigators, one Sergeant and one Corporal. The Criminal Investigations division is responsible for follow-up investigation on all major crimes including homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, crimes against children, narcotics and various other crimes. The division also works closely with other law enforcement agencies in coordinating investigations that cross jurisdictional boundaries.

SCHOOL RESOURCE DIVISION

The Sallisaw Police Department has two School Resource officers. The School Resource officers are assigned to the Sallisaw Public Schools during the school year. It is the job of the School Resource officers to patrol all school campuses, investigate criminal activity, investigate traffic accidents, to educate students and staff about crime prevention and other various programs and activities on all Sallisaw public school campuses.

COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION

The Communications division is responsible for all emergency communications. Communications officers receive incoming calls, 911 emergency calls and dispatch calls to officers or the appropriate agencies. The Communications division orchestrates all emergency communications for the police and fire services in the City of Sallisaw. They are also responsible for communications to other departments or agencies as needed, especially during storms or natural disasters. The Jail division is responsible for housing Detainees for the City of Sallisaw.

RECORDS DIVISION

The Records division is responsible for maintaining all files and records for the Sallisaw Police department. The division maintains all criminal investigation reports, incident reports and master files on all individuals arrested for a criminal charge. The Records division also files and maintains all traffic citations issued by the City of Sallisaw officers. This division collects required statistics for state and federal reporting that is required. The Records division maintains photograph files of individuals arrested and maintains the sex offender registry that is required by law.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATE

The Domestic Violence Advocate is a source of information, assistance and support for victims of domestic violence and abuse in their time of need.
